Welcome to the Swanage Pier Trust portal

Swanage Pier is one of only a few timber piers in the UK. It is under constant threat from a challenging marine environment and from the gribble worm, the microscopic bug that can reduce the vertical piles to a fraction of their width over time.

Every 25 years or so, many of the piles at Swanage Pier need replacing. Along with the damage that occurs from natural forces (like the storms in 2013) the Pier is continually under attack beneath the waves.

Swanage Pier is run by the Swanage Pier Trust. It is not owned by any local authority and relies entirely on charitable donations to survive. Please consider helping us to conserve this majestic Pier for future generations, and to thwart the activities of the gribble worm!
