PIER PILATES “ If your spine is stiff at 30 you are old, if it is flexible at 60 you are young.” Joseph Pilates.
Pier Pilates exercises engage your deeper abdominals (those elusive core muscles) and build strength through bodyweight exercises, helping you move more easily and confidently in daily life – the kind of functional movement we’ve all been hearing about.
PIER PILATES combines mobility exercises for your hips and shoulders with traditional Pilates techniques to build a strong foundation, improving both balance and posture. Exercises are taught in layers, allowing easy modification or progression to suit your fitness level. No previous Pilates experience is required. Movements include a mixture of standing, seated and mat-based work, flowing from one to the next so you won’t be getting up and down like a yoyo and will have a chance to focus on your breath and enjoy your surroundings.
🧘 Please wear layers for comfort and either grippy socks or go barefoot. Previous Pilates is not required; you just need to be able to get up and down off the mat and have no health conditions or injuries that make exercise unsuitable for you right now
Come and chat with me, Mel, before class if you have any minor niggles or giggles so I can include any modifications you need. Please bring a mat (I’ll have a couple of spares available on a first-come, first-served basis).
